Life

I put so much effort into the blog when I go overseas on travel, that coming home and moving back to a once-per-week summary feels like I'm retiring and rejoining civilian life after a deployment somewhere or something. It's so weird being able to just let go. I still do need to proofread that monster I made though, and that will take a week or two to do, because I'm going to first kick back and relax a bit after finishing this week's blog. Probably do some catch up on the season of anime that's coming to an end, and a couple of spreadsheets belonging to some streams that I watch that I haven't updated in far too long. Also I have a couple weeks' worth of local junk mail to scan, never mind all the stuff I brought back. I want to scan the local junk mail first though so I can get that out my door.

I'm glad there were no bugs that moved in while I was gone. There was a bad smell somewhere the first couple of days that I was back, but that is gone now too. I think that was the communal garbage area outside being repaired. I'm happy I have the door sweep under my door (that the apartment complex staff person tried to discourage me to get... I'll never forget that silliness), that probably saved me from quite a bit of the stench outside too.

I did get my washroom sink tap replaced though, because it was leaking out its undersides whenever I turned it on. And if I didn't fully shut off the tap, which was very easy to do, the little leak into the sink would be accompanied by a little leak out the sides of the tap too, which would eventually overflow and turn my entire sink counter into a little watery wonderland. Which was bad for all the other things I put on that counter. This problem already existed before I left for the trip, but I didn't have the time to do it before then, and I figured maybe if I did it right after I return, then they might think that some sort of degradation happened while I was away or something.

It was repaired really quickly though, John came by with a brand new the same day after I filed the maintenance report and swapped it out, and then we spent a few minutes chatting before he left on his way.

I also renewed my one-year lease for the same price as it is right now, $1,329 a month. Plus a monthly $2.50 processing fee or whatever nonsense from the stupid online app they use called Entrata, so $1,331.50. I had to sign it before the start of the month though or I'd have shifted into the more expensive month-to-month rent payment at the start of May, supposedly. Funny how that works. The online offer that the leasing lady had left open for me when we talked before the trip, and had assured me would still be there when I got home from the trip, was indeed not there anymore when I returned, but she knew my return date anyway and called me a few days after to re-send it, and we got it digitally signed there on the spot. It's nice that it's all done online now instead of having to go down to the leasing office, but I also think that they do that to avoid people haggling with them.

This might be a slight overshare, but I actually immediately picked up two zits or pimples or whatever or my face in the past week, one just before I got home and one after I got home, which distressed me. I typically never get them. Gemini thinks that's due to the change in temperature and humidity, and suggested I try an acne patch from Safeway. I actually did end up buying one to try, but because I delayed going for a couple days due to the cold outside and trying to schedule my outdoor trips with warmer days, they were already fading by the time I acquired it. Still, it's probably good to have this in the cabinet.

The inside of my lips also really hurt when I brush my teeth, as though there are a couple of cuts in there. I'm not sure if it's because my current toothbrush's bristles are too stiff or something. I did bring back eight new toothbrushes from all the hotels I went to though, so maybe I should try one of them? Never again will I make the mistake of buying a travel toothbrush or toothpaste when I go on vacation, sheesh.

In terms of using Gemini now that the trip is over, now that I think I know some of its limitations and advantages, I'll probably continue using it as an assistant to ask silly adult-type questions going forward. For example, I've consulted with it to ask about what kinds of healthy snacks I can get and eat in the evenings from the nearby supermarket since I know heck all about western cuisine still after all these years. It should be an interesting tool to help me fill in blind spots in my life. Also I need to try something new by Monday in order to keep up that new year's resolution to eat something new every week anyway. I also plan to ask it to assist me in figuring out how to migrate this blog away from Elementor, as another example. I will continue to not have it assist me in outlining/drafting/writing a blog post though.

Gemini also assisted Tigey by convincing me to spare him from the heat cycle of the dryer, by saying that it would be bad for his sideburns as it would suffer dryer burn. Fine, so Tigey just went through a wash cycle and then got to drip dry on a towel this time. Lucky emperor. Gemini also hallucinated badly when I showed it a picture of Tigey though, as it called Tigey's current fur "fluffy". Obviously it didn't look at the picture and just guessed.

I also gave it a list of my teas and it categorized it into morning/afternoon/night teas, by dividing it into how caffienated they are, which seems like a useful list to have for the long term.

One thing that's on my list to look into and acquire at some point within the next couple of weeks are Po Chai Pills, this is an anti-diarrhoea Chinese medicine that we used to have at home and that Kel gave me because she had some when I went to stay with her, but I had long forgotten about ever since moving out on my own. I'm not sure where to get them in Edmonton, but I'm sure they're sold somewhere, they're fairly famous as traditional chinese medicine. Finding it will be part of the fun.

That green food waste basket that came in while I was gone seems to be a new, permanent thing that our apartment building has now either signed up for or been forced to participate in. (Rollout map here (local).)

It's to do with this program (local), apparently. I'm for it as long as it doesn't get in the way too much. I use a compostable plastic bag liner, though they say (local) they can't process it with their process anyway. But using no liner at all is a no-go for me, so this will have to do.

The sling bag that I use, but whose sling strap broke partially during the Hainan leg of my trip and then fully near the end of the trip, is a Bentley Clinton Business Tote Bag/Clinton Back to Work Tote Bag (local), but that bag seems to no longer be in stock anywhere online. I emailed Bentley's customer support about it though and they said that it was no longer available but maybe it was still replaceable under warranty, so I sent them pictures of the bag and the receipt from Mar 2024 and am waiting to hear back to see what they say. The bag itself is still fine, it's just the strap that broke, but technically I could also just get a new strap from some other place online and attach it to the ends of the sling bag. The ring connectors themselves are perfectly fine too. This bag is a beast.

The eye doctor that was supposed to follow up with me after my optometrist appointment in October last year, and who the lady at the desk said would contact me "in a couple of months" when I followed up with them in December last year, fortuitously contacted me this week after I had returned from my trip. I sent them to a text call at first because I had no idea who they were, but after I realized what they were calling about, I moved them to a regular voice call and set up a couple appointments with them. There are two appointments set up, one on Thu Apr 02 at 11:30 am for pre-testing, and one on Thu Apr 23 at 11:00 am for a consultation and possibly additional tests, possibly including dilation. These tests are to check for glaucoma or the future possibility of such, since my Dad has it and my optometrists have been saying that there's a lot of pressure in one of my eyes or something. They're by the Mill Woods Town Centre mall, so I can go have a nice lunch there afterwards too, hopefully.

Another thing on my to-do list in the next couple of days is to renew my passport. It has more than 6 months but less than a year to go now, and there's a slight fee increase (local) for passport applications and renewals coming on Mar 31 2026. $3.50 extra for a 10-year passport is not the end of the world, but every bit helps, right. Although you could also argue that not renewing a passport a year early also could help save one passport renewal in the long term. However, there's a slight chance I might go somewhere again near the end of the year, and at that point my passport would be under 6 months

Then there's taxes. I don't wanna.

I went down to my parents' place on Friday this week to dump off most of my gifts to them and to Jon (who got a couple of Kokuyo Novita folders -- I knew he was reading the blog so I purposely left out exactly what I was getting for him, especially since he doesn't have a convenient list of things that he'd prefer to get as gifts. Teehee.) I forgot to bring along the Uni pen that I had consulted with Kel to buy for Mom though, as that paper bag had fallen into another bag entirely while I was arranging stuff. So it's sitting on my messy desk now, waiting for the next time I go meet either of them.

Almost everything else from my trip is still sitting on a mat on my floor, including all the plushies -- they're in their decontamination stage before they can join my regular plushies, since unlike Tigey they didn't take baths the moment they got home. At some point, they will co-mingle, my clear files will be put away... somewhere, and my scanning project will be ready to begin!

When I went to buy a meal at my favourite Southgate store, Thai Express, this week, the guy on duty took my money and my card info and then remarked that according to the app, I had a special "birthday month" offer and could get $10 off a $20 or more purchase. My usual meal is only $15.46 though, so he suggested adding a drink or something. I asked when it was valid until, and he said the end of the month. (He also asked if it was my birthday that day and said happy birthday before I could answer that actually, it was last month and I was away for it.). I told him that I was carrying too many things anyway and would come back another day, before the end of the month, to settle things.

That was on the 24th, the Tuesday after I came back. I stopped by again on Friday, the 27th, and this time ordered two meals, my usual tom yum and their new dish, the pad woon sen, or crystal noodles. The problem was that I had forgotten that I only had a $20 note with me, whereas $15.46 times two was still a little over $20 even after the $10 discount. Plus for whatever reason he didn't apply the "5% off for cash payment" discount that should stack on top of that, so the total came up to $22.03 instead of $20.93. No difference though, I was still slightly over.

Bah, I said. I'll come back another day again I guess. Before the end of the month. He again suggested I just get a drink or something to get the one dish cost above $20, but I refused to do that for the reason that their drinks are super expensive. He then shrugged and said that they'd just do the order anyway, and that I can just bring along extra $2 next time since I was a regular here. How nice of them! Except for the slight overcharge.

The mall itself hasn't changed too much while I was gone, that I've noticed just yet, but this thing was in the middle of one of the passageway intersections:

And it was amusing to watch people open the door (on the left side) and step through it. What do they think this is, Doraemon (local)?

And finally, here's the nicest welcome-back sky that I saw this week! Fri Mar 27 at 7:24 pm.

Games

I bought a couple of games this week to play once I got back home, breaking my six week abstinence from the love of my life, especially since the spring Steam sale was still going on. The two big ones were Slay the Spire 2 and Mewgenics, both games I had casually watched Nomakk and others playing while I was abroad. I've since played both games a little bit, but been sidetracked with post-vacation tasks as well to burn a lot of time into them yet. I'm still unlocking all the characters and mechanics in both games and have only played through 3 starter runs of each game, I think.

Satinel also picked up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate on the Steam sale and requested that I do so as well for co-op play, so we did that for one night this week. The game is poorly coded, with absolute nonsense like how opening a secondary menu in the lair shows a key prompt of hitting the escape key to close the menu again, but hitting escape not only closes that menu but also opens up the game options screen that you normally have to hit the escape key without any other secondary windows open to summon forth. And a lot of other minor quirks like that that affect gameplay too, like being hit by a boss beam while behind him, or not being able to see our turtle ability while in the game or on a run. But I do somewhat like the game and hope we play more of it.

Lastly, I picked up Melvor Idle because I saw on my Steam community feed that Tes picked it up too, and peered at what it was all about. It's an idle game in the form of an RPG, made by the Runescape devs and probably very much inspired by the game. But distilled down to a number incrementer without any external gameplay. So far, I do like it, it's something to do on the side while I work on other catchup things and I like finding new synergies between skills. The UI is bad in some places though and it takes some getting used to. Mod support is present and does help, which is another plus for it.

Interestingly, when I asked Gemini about game mechanics, it was more or less able to tell me about the mechanics, tips to level up and what to work on and such, though the ingame numbers it conjured up were often off by quite a bit at first. It blamed an older version of the game/database, I suspect autocomplete "guessing" nonsense. I did feed it the game's wiki page though, at which point it became better at it. I was impressed that it was able to surmise context in a game just by me giving it a screenshot of the game, or absorb things like fish and food selling prices just by me giving it a screenshot of the wiki table. Most of the time. It also approves of me playing Slay the Spire 2 and Mewgenics as cognitive fuel to keep myself awake, and Melvor as a sort of way to wind down at night with something low stakes but (depending on what I am doing) still requiring a bit of attention to build up Tigey's empire efficiently.

Then there was that one time I was talking about the gem gloves from the game with Gemini and it pulled up a list of real life work glove recommendations instead to try to be helpful... thanks, bot.

Plushie of the Week #221

This week will just be a catch-up week, as in we will catch up on the number of Linlee ducks and friends that we have now. At last count, I had four Linlee ducks -- three from my initial trip to China last year and one from Benny as a gift from Hong Kong. Plus Ducky, but he doesn't count. Now I have seven more, and here they are:

I guess counting the giant one, which is a solid plastic Linlee duck that moves forward along the ground if wound up using a little screw by its foot, we actually have 8 more... and then there's a mahjong tile in there too that kind of inflitrated its way in... and why is Ducky still part of this crew? What are they all doing here, swearing fealty to Tigey?

Excluding Tigey and Ducky, I'm going to enumerate them here for my own easier reference next time. They're all in order of acquisition from left to right: Kel has sponsored a few of these and I don't know the price of the big one so I've left off the prices going forward, but they all generally come with drinks worth somewhere between 18 to 25 yuan, or $3-5 CAD or so.

Yellow Chinese Opera Duck - May 13 2024 - Guangzhou
Yellow Normie Duck - May 14 2024 - Guangzhou
Purple Yandere Duck - May 26 2024 - Hong Kong

Pink Sleeping Duck - Mar 15 2026 - Shanghai
Blue Ice Cool Duck - Mar 18 2026 - Shanghai

Linlee, when are you coming over to North America?

And Tigey, what the hell are we going to do with all these rubber ducks?

Dreams

To catch up on the not-dream-diary (I really need to format and move everything into there at some point), here's every dream I accumulated from Feb 06 2026 until the end of this week.

Feb 09 2026
  • I was the leader of a guild but had not been on very often, so when I got on, I was asked to give member promotions to a bunch of people. One of my officers was a kind old grandma and she had invited a bunch of other old people who she had played with and vetted to join the guild, but she did not have the permission level to promote them past Recruit.
  • I promoted them all to Member and had a nice chat with one of them where I inquired who they were. I realized that I had not been online nearly enough recently and resolved to change that.
  • I did a group quest with Kel and Mom that ended up with us getting a bunch of beanbag-sized prize pouches. There was a safe way to open them that we didn't have access to at the moment, so Kel just opened a couple anyway and out popped three translucent lizards. They leapt away from us and scurried under the furniture in the living room, much to our consternation.
  • I then noticed that each beanbag actually had a picture of the item inside of it. A bunch of the remaining ones looked like keychains, and there was one more lizard booby prize as well, but there was also one with the picture of a fuzzy kitten on it.
  • Sure enough, a fuzzy black kitten materialized out of thin air once I opened that pouch. It leapt into the living room, then proceeded to chase one of the lizards around. The lizard bounced around like a fish until the kitten finally caught it and ate it, leaving only the tail. Satisfied, the kitten then curled up for a nap. I noticed that the tail had a tag embedded in it that indicated that it was from the prize pouches. The tag was a long, thin, and white curved tube.
  • I knew that Mom had said that she didn't like cats, but I figured that this might be a good way to actually introduce one to the family as well, now that she could see how useful they were in keeping lizards and other pests at bay.
Feb 17 2026
  • In the context of an MMO, I had a quest reward key that would allow me to use an elevator to get down to its bottom floor instead of only halfway down, which is as far down as players could get without the key. I occasionally used this key to help others get to the bottom and skip some content.
  • One time though, Kezheng was AFK on a cart just outside the elevator while we were waiting inside, and a friend pushed him in since we had a time limit for using the elevator.
  • However, it was too late, and a huge rock the size of the elevator with a comet-like pointed bottom end appeared at the top of the elevator shaft and started to fall. It only moved when the elevator moved, but it was right above the elevator, just touching its ceiling, when the elevator reached the ground floor, and opening the elevator door would cause it to fall the rest of the way and crush us. We ended up having to restart that round.
  • In another segment, I remember helping a Caucasian son and dad duo team earn their key so that they could use the full range of the elevator too.
  • I was also kidnapped at one point, and the point of view shifted to a sidekick pet that I had but that I had recently argued with, which turned out to be a good thing as that meant that he wasn't with me when I was kidnapped. He was talking to my family and vowing to go rescue me.
Feb 21 2026
  • Snippet: In one scene, I remember being in a shop trying to buy a space ship, and having to unpack and peel back layers of the spaceships like onions while trying to decide which was the best one.
  • Snippet: In another scene, I was seated on a bus with a couple of friends and watching the scenery go by outside. The scenery was a rerun of events that had already happened though, and we were watching for specific events that we knew were coming up.
  • Snippet: In yet another scene, I was living with my parents and siblings in a large square room, and our mattresses were on the ground, taking up a bunch of space in the room. There was a pile of plastic container boxes near the back of the room that contained our possessions, and Mom and Dad wanted to rearrange and move them around so boxes containing our own individual stuff were moved to next to our respective beds.
Feb 22 2026
  • Snippet: I remember a scene revolving around receiving and sending packages, and how a certain landmark or building on a map actually had its package receiving and sending points located on oval pads on the road slightly before and after its actual position as marked on the digital map.
  • Snippet: There was a scene where a young girl fancied having power over me and would assign me extra homework and such to flaunt that power. I obliged her as and when I could, including sneaking in to the corridor outside her room at one point to finish up some of the work she had assigned me as I didn't have time to do it during the day. She happened to wake up then and saw me doing so. This took place within a larger storyline where I was doing quests with friends during the day.
Feb 23 2026
  • Kel and I were loot running a small, circular arena next to an open air hawker centre or food court. Besides the loot, I knew that she had to kill a bunch more lizards for a LotRO deed, 15 more for tier 1 and then 40-60 more for tier 2, and this arena spawned five at a time.
  • We went into the arena and approached a trigger spot right in front of a television perched on a stand. This caused the lizards to spawn and we killed them.
  • We also had either very weak friends or minions with us and one of them collapsed as the last lizard died. But Kel was now level 45, and I knew that that meant that she had just unlocked a resurrect spell that could even be used in combat. It could also be used out of combat, and I told her to use it on the collapsed ally so she could see how it worked.
  • I then tried to trigger the fight again but it nothing happened. I remembered belatedly that the fight would only respawn once every five minutes.
  • While waiting, we went to the hawker center or food court and Kel went to the drink bar to order some coffee, which required her to bring her own ingredients in addition to paying a processing fee. She had both though and handed them over. I asked how much she paid for it, saying that I was going to buy something around the same price. She quoted a price around $10-11.
  • I looked at the menu. Most of the drinks were either caffeinated or alcoholic, but there was a juice section and apple juice was around the same price, so I decided to order that. However, the four servers, who were dressed up in animal suits or onesies for some reason, had wandered away from the bar and were interacting with another patron somewhere else, so I couldn't make my order. Kel had also wandered off, so I just went back to the arena to wait for respawns.
Mar 04 2026
  • Snippet: I was sick and to get well again I had to acquire a ticket from a shop at the train station. There were many, many options here, most being sold by random people in little booths, and often involving train stations that weren't even the one we were at. Which was fine since I didn't need to use the ticket, only acquire it. In the end I picked up a ticket from this station to Shanghai even though it would mean I would slightly overshoot where I actually wanted to go.
  • Snippet: I also had weird dreams about the length of time needed for sleeping and how that can sometimes be up to one hour off from the length of time that was actually needed. In some cases both durations were fixed and nothing could be done about it, while at other times, especially involving buildings that ended at the rooftop of a taller building somehow, I could adjust the remaining duration to make it match up with the longer sleep duration.
Mar 07 2026
  • The temperature was -120 degrees Celsius outside as I walked up to a train station parking lot, although the temperature did nothing more than cause a lot of snow to be falling. I passed a couple of cars near the entrance on the way in to the carpark, one of them had two people in it, with the driver waiting to try to run over someone from another car that he hated. I befriended him earlier though, and he waved to me as he let me by.
  • There were no cars near the actual station entrance on the other side of the carpark, but there was a coyote and bear waiting there. The bear was docile, but the coyote charged me. It used an attack pattern where it swiftly approached, then lowered its snout and turned into a blur as it charged me. But it couldn't change direction at all during that charge, so I barely dodged it twice as I retreated to the entrance where the other cars were.
  • A woman there told me to get onto her motorbike, and I did so. She drove past the coyote and smashed into the entrance of the train station, which was packed floor to ceiling with snow. She accelerated and continued driving into the wall of snow, smashing it apart. It was all snow all the way in but she made a tunnel to the stairs leading down so I could reach the platform, before her motorcycle gave up and tumbled over into the snow. I thanked her as she picked up her bike and wished me a good journey.
  • The platform below was covered and thus snow-free, and had dozens of people waiting there for the next train, which arrived shortly after I did. I saw Huihan not far off from where I was, and went to wait in the same queue as her without actually calling out to her. We both got on but then she jumped off before the door closed to wait for her husband to arrive. She never saw me and I remained on the train as it started to move off.
  • The train turned out to be a massive landship with several underground levels, each one themed after a different civilization or culture. I walked by a girl in an Egyptian costume, and realized that I had worked with her before so I asked if she needed a team and wanted to transfer over to the level I was on and join my group if so.
  • But she just stared at me, and I realized that she had worked with us as a matter of convenience just to get onto the landship and didn't care about the people or the team we were on. I wasn't even sure she remembered me. In the end she just ignored me and walked on.
  • I went into a large cavern that was my team's main room. There was a lady in business attire doing inspections in the room, she was apparently someone important in the organization. An acolyte girl wearing a temple uniform rushed to her and asked her to become her mentor, much to the horror of a couple of bystanders. But the older lady smiled and agreed.
  • Snippet: There was a school scene where I was sitting near the front right side of a class that I joined late in school year. The guys at the back of the classroom were slacking off and were tracking their classmates in front of them and the number of questions that they got wrong as they got called on. I didn't know the answer to a question when I finally was called upon but managed to change the topic long enough for the teacher to get distracted, and thus got away with not getting a wrong answer added to my tally.
  • Snippet: There was also a card game tournament with static decks, so one could borrow a deck of cards to join and play in it. Each match had multiple rounds, and the first round was the longest, but not all the cards in a player's deck survived to subsequent rounds, so subsequent rounds got shorter as lesser and lesser cards remained in play. The winner of each match was the person who removed all their opponent's cards first.
Mar 13 2026
  • I was in the back of a van being driven by someone else, with the driver and I both being part of a team trying to survive in a post-disaster world by scavenging things. I believe there were vaguely others on the team too but they were not with us and not involved in this dream.
  • As the two of us drove down the road, we passed several abandoned cars and I suggested to the driver that he stop and siphon some gas from one of the cars since there were gas canisters and plastic tubes lying around too. He agreed and stopped next to a house to do so.
  • While he was doing so, I also stepped out of the van and looked at the house. In front of the house was a cardboard box, and I quietly went up to it and opened it to find ingredients for baking a cake in it. I took all the ingredients and moved them to the van.
  • Once I had done so, I remained in the van as the driver was almost done as well. Then the front door of the house opened, and a father and his three kids stared out at our car in front of our yard. Two of the kids ran out into the yard while the third ran right to the van and hopped in before I could fully close the door.
  • I was going to ask the kid to leave but I noticed from his profile that he was actually a special NPC that could be taken to another location and turned in to a young girl that acted as a powerful quest NPC. We would then get a special reward from her from a large list of potential ones. We decided to bring the kid there to try this instead of chasing him off.
Mar 17 2026
  • Snippet: I remember waiting for my missing DJI camera and spare battery to arrive at my hotel, and having it actually be delivered by a courier to the hotel front desk at midnight. It came in a giant white cylindrical tube that reminded me of a giant bone, with a panel in the middle of the cylinder's long side that slid open to reveal a compartment carrying the items. I retrieved them and discarded the tube.
Mar 20 2026
  • There was a challenge game that popped up as a vertical game board on a wall in a school that was part of a larger complex that acted as a small town of its own. The game involved a devil king character that took up the top middle of the board, and a bunch of smaller demons and minions of various sizes and strengths fully packing the rest of the board. They would all protect the king and attack the player, and the challenge was to find a way to defeat the king.
  • I came by far the closest out of anyone, with the help of Huihan, Zixiang, and Xuanjie. I figured out that I could charm all the lesser demons and have them attack the devil king, and only the king himself was immune to charming and it would be pointless if he could be charmed anyway since the demons wouldn't attack him.
  • With this strat, I got him all the way down to about 10% health left, at which point we reverted to the strategy most other groups used, which was to throw things in real life at the king from afar. Some stones, vegetables, and other things later, we got him down to a sliver of health left but ran out of time.
  • We could attempt the fight once per day, but I made the call that we were going to use tomorrow to refine our tactics and gather more ingredients instead, as one thing that did cost me is that my specialized charm spell required some sort of liquid to be thrown over the minions that I was about to charm, and I didn't quite have enough to get all of them today.
  • The close attempt on our first try made us local celebrities though, and a couple people asked for pictures with us. One of the two boys I was with also said with surprise at some point that he was caught in a photo that someone else was taking of a third party in the background who turned the camera angle at the last minute to try to catch us. He used the term "got Instagrammed" and we briefly discussed whether that was a suitable phrase even if the picture didn't explicitly end up on Instagram.
  • Later on, Huihan said she needed to go to the washroom and asked us to wait outside the department store we were next to. However, that felt dangerous to me. I said that we knew a couple of changelings were hidden around town, and if they caught someone alone, they would desync the person into a version of the map with no one else, while taking their place in the town. I said that I'd go with her and wait outside the bathroom, sitting on a chair in such a way that she could see me from the toilet, and I could see her from out of the corner of my eyes. In the meantime, the two boys would watch over each other downstairs. We carried out this manouver, with me noticing how thin and slightly bony Huihan's shoulders were through her shirt as I ascended the escalator behind her.
  • On our way back down, we passed through a supermarket and stopped by the board games section to look for inspiration and gear or resources there. I saw a bunch of identical-looking men in matching pink shirts and tights walking around in the grocery section and decided that we should try to avoid them.

  • Snippet: I dreamt of Shibuya Crossing and a giant statue of an idol girl whose legs formed an arch diagonally over the crossing.

  • Snippet: I remember being on the outside of at least two street markets, each one a large square area fenced off by road side railings. I was comparing prices between items inside of them and I feel like I might have eventually entered at least one of the markets too.

  • I remember living in a room that had a stone floor and a mattress in the middle. For some reason I knew that the room was in Hong Kong. It was raining outside and water was slowly seeping into the room, and I had several stacks of papers and books on the floor so a couple of them were starting to get soaked. I didn't really mind them getting soaked though since it would mean I had less work to do or something like that. My siblings both came by to visit me at first, and then later Mom also stopped by and told me to go save the papers.

  • Snippet: I remember looking down at a city map with a large hospital-mall building that stretched over three city blocks. I was standing outside the northeast side of that hospital-mall block, but I remembered being outside the western side of the building much earlier on the trip. I had then moved west from there and gone somewhere else before coming back around to where I was now.
